Mossberg 659 Bolt Action 12 Ga Specifics??
Folks, does anyone have any specifics on the Mossberg 659 Bolt Action 12 Ga? Fairly certain I have the model number correct but signs of lysdexia have occurredproir. It is, to be surea discontinued model maybe in the late nineties. Looking for opinions on the guns as to action, accuracy, and value and when it was produced.I haven't seen squat in my internet search and thought I'd ask the forum before calling Mossberg.
Thanks for you input.

Here is the info from Mossbergs website.

I bought one in 2002, and it is ok. Action could be smoother, and the trigger is aweful. Mine is8 pounds, yes8 pounds. And I have yet to find a smith that will touch it. The gun doesshoot pretty good though, right around 2" at 100 yards. My only complaints are the trigger, and the ported barrel. The porting makes it incredibly loud, and only helps muzzle jump minimumly. I paid $220 for mine brand new. I would suggest you look at the Savage bolt action slug gun if you can afford it, it is a much better gun. Good luck

When dicussing the Mossberg 695, in the terms you are questioning their is really only one point that must be established first. How much are planning on spending on the 695, and can youafford the difference between that cost and 325$ to buy a better gun.
That may sound strange but if you are getting a great deal, say below 200$on the 695 it might be worth it. If you are already spending anything over 200$ and could afford a little more then discussing the 695 is not worth your time.
Assuming you could afford a usedSavage, which have been selling for 325-375$, then unquestionably that would be the better way to go.
So let us know what you can afford then we can tell you more about each gun. If money is an issue, but the quality of each gun is the deciding factor, then I can help you make that decision to. However it would save some time if we knew your budget first.
used 695..(bad price)

used Savage 210..(current price 160..is incredible..worth 300$ish)

Dunno much about that one specifically but my dad left me an early sixties one...from sears I think.
GEEZ...its a hot gun...has poly choke. I have actually shot 18 out of 20 on the traps!!!
Love it...great action...cute little sights for slugs. Of all my guns...this one is the most fun to shoot because nobody realizes how fast this gun recyles...never a jam either. Keep it well oiled and its a favorite. I would be lookin for one of those if I was a moss lover. Hard to lose at a turkey shoot too!!! One thanksgiving I was givin away frozen turkeys...lol
I also have a 9 shot moss pump...not much fun to shoot with 3" mags...but the bolt will handle anything with class.
