For me it would have to be a .22wmr in a bolt action. That would be light and alittle more punch then a .22lr. Ammo is still light and I could carry lots of it.

I have a Sav. 24 in 30/30 over 20 ga. and that was my first thought. However there is something to be said for a 12 ga (shot and slugs) and there is some good arguments for a plain .22.
If i could put a .22 handgun on my hip and carry the 30/30 over 20 ga. I'd be happy.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who posted ar15. I would go with a Rock River Arms Entry Tactical in .223. Mags are easy to carry and you can have a multitude of different scopes or lights or both. Plus you can always attach the bayonet for some old fashioned pig sticking. For those who say a .223 may be small for deer or larger game, hey, thats why you have 30 shots.

im going with the 22 hornet. not very comon but would fit the situation well. its very much capable of taking from birds to deer and i have read in a few books and magazines for along time it was the eskimos and all the way northern peoples saving grace used on walrus seals and even records of polar bears.

I would take the 22 magnum.Ammo is fairly cheap and it's easy to carry a lot of it. I would buy a revolver and a rifle. Open sights on the revolver and a scope on the rifle.
