May sound like jumping on the bandwagon, but the ruger 10/22 is good for me. They are cheap, and the parts are available everywhere

I agree with Wineguy. Ruger 10/22 is one the best out there. There are alot of after market parts for you customize the gun to fit your needs. You can get 10, 25, 30, 50 round clips for all the planking you need.

My next .22 rifle will be a CZ. Love the CZ Style and Varmint 452.

I own an older stock 10/22 and I love the thing too.

What's the best 22 rifle, why that's quite subjective. While there are many makes such as remington, savage, marlin, ruger etc that make 22's my votes will be Anschutz, Kimber and Cooper. They are examples of the finer over the counter guns of today.

I just picked up thisCooper M57 in 17HMR, they do offer the 22 LR chamberings too.

I like my Marlin 39a (1967 model) a whole lot. If you like alever action, the 39a would be a terrific choice. The solid steel receiver, and the walnut stock really make this gun a classic. I have a weaver base, and scope rings that I can slap a scope on in minutes to check theaccuracy of different rounds, but I love shooting it with open sights.

Marlin.....the one stop shopping center for 22 rimfires.....they make more rimfire rifles than all the other manufacturers put together.

If you've ever fondled the "mini-mauser" 22LR from Kimber you can appreciate the upper-end of the rimfire market. I have several 22s but I would hate to have to choose between my 10/22 and my 22 BLR. The first gun I ever bought, ever, as a kid was a Marlin bolt. I actually shot cigarettes into with it as they floated by in a river from atop an old abandoned bridge. THAT cheap lil ol gun was the most accurate 22 I have ever been around. I hope it blew up on the SOB that stole it one night! Second most accurate 22 I have ever been around was my stepfathers bolt action Ruger. ANY turtle within 150yds was goin too the big log in the sky!

Either are great lil rifles.
