ruger 10/22 scope choices

I have a Simmons 22MAG 3x9 on my 10/22. About $70 10 years ago.
I also like to shoot it with a Tasco ProPoint5 red dot. Very fast. $100
Skip the tip-off scope mounts that some guys recommend for 22s.
Go with a better mounting system, like aweaver.

I typically recommend someone buying the best and most expensive scope they can, EXCEPT when talking about rimfires and air rifles. It's not like you are going to be shooting 300yds in near darkness with them. A plain ol 3x9x32 Golden Antler Tasco is about the perfect weight and size for a 10/22. I also agree with Bullz, save yourself some headaches and forget the 3/8" dovetail (or "air rifle groove" as it's known) and go ahead too the Weaver sized base/rings. For the last several years Ruger has included the bases with the rifles and the bases have both sized grooves on them. Most of the Weaver rails for the 10/22 are likewise "dual sized".
Good luck,

Check out these scope mounts:

They are expensive, but a nice little set-up. I have these and a fixed 4X Bushnell on my 10/22 and love it. The scope runs $40. Iprefer the Bushnellover the BSA and Tasco rimfire scopes and it onlyruns you about $10 more.

I have a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 on my 10/22 and absolutely love it!
I am very hard on my truck guns and I would go thru 1-3 cheaper scopes in a year bouncing around in my truck.
