RE: Designing your own dream gun?
I would really like to do something special to a marlin exposed hammer pump shotgun. (Like the model 19 or 1898.)

RE: Designing your own dream gun?
Now I'd build one in 6mm-08 7mm-06 Have you ever heard of the .243 Win.? Or the 280 Remington? Drilling Man |
RE: Designing your own dream gun?
I've thought about this question since yesterday (speaking in rifle terms) and I realized that while I would like a safety like this, a stock like that, an action this smooth, a barrel that accurate... And THEN it hit me!!!
lol such a rifle already exists, it is called the 202 Sauer!!! ![]() RA |
RE: Designing your own dream gun?
Searcy double rifle in 470NE
Regulated at 2200 fps at 50 yards Ejectors not extractors Butch's custom fitted stock Express iron sites Pure manual safety, no auto reset. |
RE: Designing your own dream gun?
Yep, those sound familiar DM[8D] But they aren't what I want if we're talking 'Dream Rifles'. Besides liking the idea that I could make all my handloads from 30-06 casing (I always flip-flop between 6mm-08 or 6mm-06) most of the cartridges would more closely resemble an AI .243 or AI .280
I was searching around a few months ago and found that I had already been beaten to my idea. http://www.z-hat.com/HawkCartridges.htm ...and I chose metric naming (yes I know the 30-06 half of the name isn't metric) because I really like the old mausers. In reality I'd be just as likely to by a 6.5swede or 7mm in a modern gun and handload it up to 'modern' levels. |
RE: Designing your own dream gun?
I think it might be a Mauser 1909 action by Built up by Kelingunther, in '06 or .308. I would choose a 5A Circasian walnut stock with the European comb. I want a nicely figured fiddleback walnut grain with an ebony forend tip. Simple oil finish. I want a traditional leather butt pad. I prefer a nice high gloss blue. Butter kife bent bolt handle and winchester 3 position safety. Shaw or Shilen sporter weight barrel and free floated.
With warne or Talley scope rings and a Zeiss Diavari 30mm riflescope in 2.5x10x42. A nice leather sling and a nicely tooled Safari style, fleese lined leather case. Or just a stock Sako TRG42 with Zeiss Diavari 6-20x56 scope. Of course, as I finish this post, I am already second guessing myself! okcmco |
RE: Designing your own dream gun?
Gee DD, you arn't asking for much are you? Maybe with a 10 inch barrel.:D

RE: Designing your own dream gun?
I'd like a ruger mkII action with the adjustable trigger and tang safety from the m77.

RE: Designing your own dream gun?
I got this gun made up last year from Hart Barrels, I din't think it was a dream gun but since working out loads and hunting last fall with it is has become a dream of a gun for me, It shoots under .250", recoil is acceptable, ballance is great, shot a 200lb buck at 390 yards it was instant kill.
Rem 700 s/a action 24" Hart Premium Stainless 7mmwsm Mcmillan Stock, bedded weight 6lbs.7oz + scope 2.5 to 10 LPS 140gr Noslers at just under 3300 fps |
