Are they any good? I am looking @ an o/u at the pawn shop for $445.00. I really like the feel of it but have never heard of these guns before. I think its made in west Germany.

Heym is made in the German gunsmithing town of Suhl. Fredrich Heym started the gunsmithing shop in 1865. I believe it is still owned by the Heym family. They are renowned for high quality rifles and shotguns. The cheapest one I saw online was a used on in good condition for 600 bucks. I believe new current models range form around 1500-way to damned expensive as they specialize in finely engraved guns and high end combo and double guns.
You didn't say which model it was or what the age was. If it is older, it is probably made for only 2.75 shot shells. I have a book that lists alot of history on Heym guns. give me the model and I might be able to get some info
I do think that $445.00 for a Heym Shotgun is probably a great price for a fine European gun. Thier rifles are top drawer too.
here is the Heym website. Click Eglish to translate
