Default Bullets tumbling

What would be the cause/causes of bullet tumbling? More specifically in a ruger single six revolver. Was at the gun club tonight and another shooter had a newer single six. Anywhere from 1-4 bullets out of 6tumbled and hit sideways. They tried multiple brands of ammo and even switched to the .22 mag cylinder, with no change. I happen to have the same gun and mine shoots excellant. Any ideas or opinions?

Tumbling can be caused by undersized bullets or oversized bores.

Might also check for a burr in the barrel near the muzzle.

The only bullets I've ever had tumble were from too slow rifleing twist. I know aguilla makes a 60 gr sss round that will tumble from most any standard .22 rifle or handgun. I know you said it was different brands of ammo so you ruled that out. I suggest your friend send it back to Ruger with an explanition of the problem, and unless he screwed it up from negligence they will likely fix it free.
