Great caliber, and a fine rifle. I shot a MK1 for 25 + years. Killed everything Alaska had to offer except the big bears. It should provide you with a lifetime of service. Good hunting!

I've got a Ruger .270 topped with a Vari-X II and love it. Just keep the barrel clean and don't let the barel heat up too much when target practicing. Mine shoots plain old 150 grain core-lokts very well, so I don't mess around with many other types of ammo. Wish I had a gun like that when I was your age.
Good luck.

Well, you got yourself a great setup there---I owned a Ruger 77R for many years in .270 Win., and it shot Rem. factory ammo extremely well. Take good care of it, and it should take care of you.
