.30-06 Remington Accelerator 55 grain

Are these regularly available?
Are they useful for varmint hunting?

If anyone has valuable experience with these rounds please chime in.

I have not seen them in quite a while, but I think they are still available, couldn't tell you where though.

I have not talked to very many people that had good luck with them, probably why you don't seen them around much. They are fast, but I have only talked to one person that said he got any kind of accuracy out it. The rest all said they got very poor accuracy at longer ranges, which defeats the purpose of using a light fast bullet.

I bet if you do find them they will not be cheap.

I used to use them every once in a while. Accuracy was not the best, but adequit out to 150 yards or so. And I know they still make them, but you might have to just order them off of the internet. Good luck

I have'nt bought them in .30-06, but have shot a couple of boxes of the .30-30's just for plinkering. Would never shoot deer with them, I'm sure it will take a yote though!

USA, the little plastics are called Sabot's (say-bow's), it means shoe in French. :)

They are usually a 2" group load in a 30/06. The ones they made for a .308 group better - I got them to holdright at MOA in my .308 PSS. Not good enough for prairie dogs, but very suitable for coyotes. There are still a few boxes floating around. The rumor was that the ATF pursuaded Remington to take these off the market voluntarily. I guess they were nervous about a bullet that has no rifling marks on it.

The are still listed on Remington's website, and apparently a dealer on Gunbroker has quite a few as he's selling upwards of a case. I was more intereted in use for coyotes.

A dollar a round isn't cheap, but cheaper than another rifle and scope for now.
