Glad to hear some others that like the .260, 6.5mmSwede and the 7mm-08! I have been using them for 10yrs and would not trade for another. Been using the 6.5mm mostly!

I've owned a .260 Rem., a Rrmington 700 LSS Mtn. Rifle for about five years. It is a great light recoiling cartridge even in a lightweight rifle. Accuracy is also very good. I have no problem with velocitiessafely reaching 2750fps using a 129 gr. Hornady Interlock bullet
A great cartridge even though it's popularity is waning!

I own several .270's and a7MM-08; and am still thinking about building a .260 for myself. Will probably go with the Ackley Improved version. When Swift annouced the introduction of a 130 grain Scirocco in this caliber last month, thatkinda pushed me over the edge. . . . .

is the 260 rem a short action or a long action?
my 10 yr old daughter can shoot the 243. is it possible for her to comfortably shoot one of these?

Yes it is a short action. If she can shoot that 243 comfortably I would almost bet she couldnt tell the difference in recoil with the 260. As others have said, would probably be the only gun she would ever need unless you hunt something that bites back

The 260rem is the mildest big game cartage around it will kill the biggest deer with the least recoil in the lightest rifle and it's great on pigs too.
I get 3000fps with the 120gr Nosler and 2930fps with the 130gr Hornady's from a little model seven 20' barrel the loads might be a little hot but they work damn well for me

the 260 pushes a 120 gr bullet at 2890 fps and a 140gr at 2750fps. the 120 gr bullet drops 19 inches at 300 yds. which isnt that bad for the speed not breaking 3000 fps. hopefully this info will help you some.
