Default .45 ACP vs. .45 GAP

Anyone here shooting the .45 GAP? I'm looking into getting a 1911 style .45 GAP, and am wondering how it compares to the .45 ACP, and if the GAP will stand the test of time.

The only thing the GAP does that the ACP doesn't is fit in a smaller framed pistol. That being said, there is no reason to get a 1911 in GAP unless it has some sort of scaled down frame with a smaller grip.

Agree with Briman. Not sure yet whats to be gained with the GAP especially in a 1911. It'll be interesting to see if the GAP will be able to hold on or if it'll fall into the shadows like the 10 did. Not saying there's anything wrong with it, just don't know if folks will hold onto it.

The GAP is a fine cartridge. It matches or slightly exceeds the performance of the ACP. However I don't see it going to far in the Non Glock handguns. The ACP has to big a head start. I would love to have a GAP but I do't really know why.. It will sell some for just that reason, Its new and different.

Like said already, all you gain is a smaller grip. And ammo is not as readily available as ACP. I have shot a XD chambered in GAP, and it was just like shooting a regular 45. Good luck

Go with the ACP... No reason to buy the GAP... The ACP will slightly outpreform the GAP... Plus you can get ammo for the ACP at about half the price of the GAP.

Thanks! I'm probably going to stick with the tried, and true .45 ACP!
The Springfield .45 GAP sure looks like a nice little 1911 though!

Best description I've heard of the .45 GAP: "It's the perfect solution to a problem that didn't exist."

Like some others, I'm not sure it will stay. Even if it does, buying ammo will be a pain. I see no reason to switch.

And hot #$#@, Springfield now - or soon will - have an XD chambered in .45ACP.....I think the GAP is destined for the niche market. My XD9 may have a big brother some time down the road.

Related to the GAP, while the GAP approximately matches the ACP in performance, it's maxed out in terms of potential while the ACP can get a bit more power with +P loadings. (I believe I read that somewhere in a comparison of the 2 rounds.)
