RE: Rifle advice.
Since you have a .308, I would not get the .30-06 because there isn't really that much difference between them. If you plan to retire the .308, then there is a .308/.30-06 gap in your battery and maybe getting the .30-06 makes sense.
Certainly the .338 Winchester Magnum carries enough punch to dispatch elk and moose at 400 yards if you are up to the required marksmanship. There are other cartridges as well that would work. I personally like to stay with tried and proven cartridges. I'm not someone who buys the first year's release of a new vehicle model: I prefer others to be the guinea pigs on finding and working out the bugs. |
