Default what model remington is this

my father in law gave me a old remmington 12ga auto shot gun not sure what model it is only says sportsman 12 auto on the reciever the barrel and stock say remmington it dosnt have fancy engraving like on the sportsman 58 but not sure they all had engraving i will post some pics if anyone knows anything about it please let me know he said its very old thats all i know it is in exellent shape and shoots great any info on model what it might be worth or how old it is would be great and help put some history on the gift he gave me

Remington made a "Sportsman" model, from 1939 to 1949. It came in 121, 16, or 20 ga. It had a 26" barrrel, skeet choke, and beavertail foreend. It was manufactured in field, riot and skeet configurations. Plain barrel varies in price from $120 to $325. depending on condition.

Just for your info - be more specific when asking about guns - ie: barrel length, ribbed or not, ga. any particular markings etc. on the firearm.

thanks for the info
as i wrote above its a 12 gauge
no other markings exept checkered stock 28inch vent ribed barrel

i thought it was a 1100 but it dosnt say 1100 anywhere on the gun and the word sportsman made me belive maybe a sportsman 58


also the barrel has no changeble choke tubes guessing its modified
