I Don't understand why they didn't use a 26 inch barrel on the SA rifles.You think they would get a bit more distance out of a longer barrel.

I think Remington will continue to chamber the 300 Short Mag in the Model Seven. I would think they would add the 300 WSM because the Model Seven is about as perfect as light rifles get.

In my personal opinion its just marketing. I mean for many,many years the standard blue steel guns have performed in all kinds of weather. We didin't stay home because our rifles wouldn't work in cold or rainy conditions. It's not like you still don't have to clean them. Water cal still get between the stock and barrel and freeze whether its the new or old versions. That is about the only major problem I could see with any rifle in severe conditions.
