Default Slug gun barrel?

The local gunshop has 2 slug barrels for my Mossberg 500. The first is a plain barrel with rifle sites for $150. The second is a rifled barrel with the same rifle sights but the barrel is rifled for $250. Is the rifling worth $100 more for better accuracy?

the rifle barrel is worth the extra $100.00 if your shots ca get out to 100yds and farther. of course with a rifled barrel sabot slugs are big $$$

I feel that the rifled barrel would be the better barrel, but I have seen that mossberg has there own replacement barrels. Check out there website at mossberg.com. I have seen rifled barrels for the mossberg 500 for around $150. You might want to shop around and you might find a better deal for either barrel you choose.

Sorry; I should have mentioned that those are Canadian dollars. The equivalent would be about $90 US for the straight barrel and $150 US for the rifled barrel. They're both brand new from Mossberg. It's surprising that everyone thinks the rifled barrel is that much better.
The matter of needing sabots doesn't appeal too much to me though.

as already said, yardage will determan what barrel to buy.a rifled barrel with sabots is very accurate beyond 100 yards and depending on the shooter and the gun out to 200 yards.if your huntin thick country where most of your shots are 50 yards and less with the occasional 80 to 100 yard shot, the smooth bore will work great and for a lot less money.
