I found a BSA Deer Hunter Shotgun scope for around $30. It is only 2.5x20mm, is this enough magnification? Shots will be at less than 75 yards. I have very little experence with scopes. But I know this one will be better than the trachco I have now.

I have the BSA rifle Deer Hunting Scope, They sell for 50 bucks and they are 3-9 power. Don't worry about close shots. Just make sure you have it on 3 when the deer come in close. I shot a buck under 20yds with it and could see fine.

2.5 X is plenty for shots out to 150 yrds, perhaps a bit more. For a shotgun, make sure you have long eye relief, and mount the scope far enough forward that it won't hit your eyebrow!!

When i said the thing about the rifle scope, I also ment to say that 2.5x would be enough. I just like the extra power. I figure if the whole deer just barley fits in the scope it will be a lot easier and precise of a shot than if you can fit 20 deer in the scope. 2.5 will not be to much for close shots. I shot a buck last week with 3x at less than twenty yards and could see a couple feet above below and around the deer.
