Default dumb question

How do you clean a rifle? What do you use and where do you buy it. Thanks for listing to a dumb question. I have always used bows and am a novice with a rifle.

I like to use something called RIG. It's an oil that wipes off. I buy it at a local gun store here.

I like the bore snake for the barrel. They really clean the thing out.

GOOD LUCK

00buckshot,
The first thing is to buy a good coated or stainless one piece cleaning rod. If you're cleaning a bolt action rifle invest in a bore guide, that fits the rifle.
Next use a good solvent like Hoppes #9, Shooters Choice, or Butch's Bore Shine. Throw in some cotton flannel patches, and you are ready to start.

Do they have a universal bore guide for some of the older guns that aren't made anymore?
