Default Best scope for 30.06 under $150

I pulled the 30.06 out of the gun case the other day to go shooting and i realized it was time to get rid of the piece of crap Tasco scope i have on it now. I want to get a scope with 4-12 power,or preferably 6-18 power and i dont want to spend more than $150. what do you guys recommend i should buy.

I honestly don't think you are going to get a good answer on this forum b/c most guys on here think you have to pay $500+ for a good scope.

Take a few minutes and go through some of the posts about scopes. This subject has been beat to death this month alone.

As mentioned I have also heard those two were good scopes for the money. Then again I think my Tasco World Class Plus is also a great scope. Don't think they make them anymore though.

Only thing that I would say is that I would not go with a 6-18 unless you hunt open country. If you hunt anywhere in thicker stuff I would suggest dropping down to a lower power.

I use a 2x7 Nikon ProStaff. Its a really good scope and I got it at a local hunting store for like $140. I use it on my Marlin 336 30-30, but its an excellent scope for the price.

There are a quite a few decent choices on the less expensive side. the under $100 range I would look at the Bushnell Banner or Legend, under $150 the Nikon Prostaff would be my choice. For hunting I would suggest a 3x9x40 the 4x12 I think is the max I go.

I do not know where you are going to get a 4-12 power for that kind of money. I just mounted a Sightron I on my muzzleloader and it is a 3-9x40 and do far I am very impressed overall with the scope. Their guarantee is simple enough, if it breaks they replace it. It was only $119.00 and I intend on shooting the devil out of it.

Years ago Tasco was a good quality scope. I actually have two of the old World Class 3-9x40 on a couple rifles and they have held true and clear for the last 20 years.

The best "cheap" scope I have ever bought was a simmons 3-9x40 8point. $50 new.
I have started to move towards the $150-$220 scopes now because of eye relief and clearity.
