RE: Rem core lokt ultra
I have not shot the ultras but have extensive history with the old Core-lokt and if we compare the untras to them the picture is very positive.....it's a bonded core-lokt and I'd not hesitate to use them for elk at all.
However how they stack up against a Interbond, accubond, Northfork, TBBC, Swift A-Frame I have no clue. We're talking about the cream of the crop here.

Ive shot 3 deer with them out of my 270 and love them. 140 grain. 1 went through and other two recovered and had a perfect mushroom and retained alot of weight. One bullett went through a couple good pieces of bone.
I bought two boxes of 180 grain for my 300 for elk. Gonna try them this year. havent shot them yet.

Use the core-lokt ultras last year to take 8 or 9 deer (140gr in a 270 win). All one shot kills and no bullets recovered. They were the most accurate factory load of the9 I tried in my rifle.I imagine they would do just fine for elk. I'm using a 30-06 in Nov for elk in NM, but will be using either Failsafes or NPs.

The 385 gr Core Lokts shotoutof a rifled slug gun barrel are one of the most accurate shells available.
Last year I shot a buck at about 85 yards with my 12ga and the Core Lokts. Both shoulders were absolutley devestated. No bullet was recovered.

Aug 2005 issue of Field & Stream has a good article camparing various premium bullets, including this one. It's probably available online. Can't say as I really understood the difference until I read it.
