RE: Shotgun Slugs
Rebel, that is a muzzle loading load, I believe he is asking about the shotgun slug.
I was wondering the same thing and tried to do some research on it. The bullet descriped above was designed for the .454 handgun load. From what I can tell it is also the same bullet used for muzzle loading and the 20 guage platinum slugs. Although it never flat out says, I think the 12 gauge uses the 400 grn platinum tip bullet designed for the .500 S&W load. Since it is the only 400 grn offering they have this would be my best educated guess. It would indeed be a .50 cal bullet, or very close to it. They don't list it in thier components section. They also do not list a BC for it. I used .2 in a calculator and came up with the same ballistics they did, so that should work. I'm sure it would be between two and three. Oddly enough the hand gun load is listed at 1800 fps and the shotgun load is at 1700 fps. I don't believe that is a handgun I would like to fire! The only way to know for sure would be to emial or call winchester. They could probably give you the exact data you want. Paul |

RE: Shotgun Slugs
You posted while I was typing earlier. I read the question, did a little research and posted. When my answer posted yours was there already.
But ya, that is what I got out of it as well. They don't flat out say it, but it seems like a pretty sure bet that is what they did. Just took the existing bullet they had for the S&W round and stuffed in a shotgun shell. I believe they also offer it as a 54 cal options for the ML's. Paul |
RE: Shotgun Slugs
Paul, the .54 cal you are refering to is the .50 cal 400gr bullet in a Sabot. The walls of the sabot makes up the .04cal.
Wasn't sure if thats what you meant. |
