Is this a good price? BAR
Was rifle shopping this week-end, came across a .270 BAR Lightweight Stalker for $650 at a local outdoors store. They want a $100 more for the same in 30-06. Just wondering if $650 is a steal or not for that particular rifle.

I think that is about average for price. I would never buy a rifle just based on price though. My 30-06 with the scope and goodies ran me about 1400 altogether. I think that its money well spend. A rifle, if you take care of it, will outlast you! Choose wisely!

Probably the difference is price,is that they think the 30-06 is more popular than 270 so they will get more money for it.??Is this place a browning dealer? Is this a used gun? If its a browing dealer and browning found out he wouldn,t be one for long. The reason that these are the same price and if he is trying to get more he can,but getting less is a no,no with browning people. For they are a fair trade item, and they will take his dealership away. vangunsmith

If thats a New In Box.270 BAR Lightweight Stalker for $650 it's a good price. Just to give you someting to compare to, the same rifle is $699.94 at Wal-Mart and they usually have prety competitive pricing on rifles.

A few years ago I got a super deal on the BAR Stalker.. As a matter of fact I bought two of them. One was a 270 and the other was a 3006.BassPro in Cincinnati had them on sale for599.95. Regular price at that time was 659.95.I applied for a BP Credit Card and got another 10% off. I got them for 539.95. The 270 and 06 were the same price.A few days later I went to Illinois. One shop had the identical rifles for 700.00. I walked out with a big S**t. Eating.grin.

That is a good price. Occasionally if the divinity is smiling upon you, you may do better. Last January I ran into one for $450 NIB for the same rifle (could have / should have picked up a .308 at the same price). But it was one of those things.
Seriously, $650 is a good price. It is a good shooter, not sensitive to different ammunition.
