I'd like to know if anyone has any recommendations that they could make from using a 300 wsm for deer hunting. (ie. bullet and loads) In the past I have used a 308 loaded w/ 150 grain ballistic tips, but am concerned about bullet fragmentation w/ the increased velocity. Most of my shots are between 100-200 yards. Appreciate the input...

I always used 180 grain bullets for deer with the 300 Win Mag. Never had a 300 WSM but I would think the same would hold true. I think you are right about the 150 Ballistic tip being a bit fragile at speeds over 2900 fps. Just my Opinion. I liked the 180 Hornady interlock.

Keep us updated when ya try that load...sounds like a hair buster. I am gonna buy a 300wsm for my next toy soon as finances come around...they'd probably be good if I quit buying guns...lmao.

If you want to use the 150 gr in the 300wsm you may want to try one of these loads they are with a sst 150 haven't tried it on deer but have shot deer using them in other calibers and they have worked great even at higher speads,

I use the 150 BT in my 300 WSM, I think they are moving around 3100 fps. I have shot a few deer with it at ranges 30- 150 yds and all of them have fell within 5 yds. None of the bullets have exited ..

I would look at a 165 Grain bullet with similar construction to the Ballistic Tip. You will find much better Ballistic Coefficients which yield near identical trajectories and less wind drift on long shots. Needless to say up close bullet failure is also less likely. If you are set on 150s the Accubond will be a little better at staying together and exiting while maintaining the same BC.
