RE: best factory ammo?

Does the hornady light mag ammo really give the performance it claims?I just purchased a 7mm-08 and am interested in their light mag ammo.

Some people get good performance from them, most however have not had satisfactory results. The only way to know is to buy a box and see how they shoot in your gun.

I understand that some bullets shoot better in some guns than others.I was wondering about the performance,They claim about 150 fps more than any other loads.(3000 fps muzzle).Has anyone ever tested to see if that is accurate?

My .270 was shooting exactly what it said on the box {3215 fps I believe} when I shot through the chronograph. I'm shooting 1"groups at 200 yds. with them. I've been really impressed both with the groups and their performance on deer.

i always let my gun decide which is the best ammo. i have guns that love pmc loads, others like hornady. my remingtons seem to like federal rounds and h&r's that like the winchester varmint loads. remember leave it up to your gun to decide which is the best. every gun is differant.:)

I have chronographed the light mags in three different rifles and they did not meet the advertised velocity in any of the three rifles. These were 270win,308win and 30-06 loads. They were from 50fps to 100fps below the advertised velocities.Accuracy averaged from 1-1/2" to over 3" at 100 yards. In all cases other loads shot much better in these rifles.

Have heard a lot of very positive comments on the new Federal Fusion rounds. I have some, but haven't fired any off yet............
