Here's one I love. Even the city MD girls I have dated loves this. Its out of the kill it grill it nug book.

Venison Strog
2lbs backstraps cut into small strips
4 tablespoons butter (I like 6)
1cup mushrooms
1cup sour cream
1 cube beef bullion
1 good dash of curry powder
1 heavy dash of garlic powder
2/3 cup water (some use 1/3 cup red wine)
1 envelope of limpton onion soup mix
Noodles or rice

Heat the butter and mushrooms real hot in a nice heavy cast skillet
Dump in the 1-2lbs of deer strips and brown stirring around
When browned cut the heat to medium and add the water
add everything but the sour cream. Your going to have to experiment with the curry powder. I like two good dashes
I like to cook on medium or lower for 15-20 min while my noodles is boiling
Add the sour cream and cook another 2 min.

Pour over the noodles

A perfectly good name callin', accusation throwin' post
turns into a recipe exchange. Not sure what to make of
it, but sounds tasty. Thanks.

lmao PK, that's exactly what I was thinkin. I was simply bringin up a point about bein rediculed everytime I respond about mags and a 6pg post ends up with beef vs venison and recipes. It looks too me like as a group, we hunters have a large population in our midst that is ADD! :D

Besides everyone knows that elk is better than beef OR venison!!! ;)

I'm an unabashed magnum fan. I've always said that my favorite rifle is my Sako in 300 WBY. I can shoot this rifle better than any rifle I have ever shot. It kicks; so what? I'm 6' 5" 292 so it doesn't hurt me. It's overkill on deer; so what? When I shoot something, I only need one shot regardless of caliber.

I used to shoot a 7mmRem. Magnum also. Only reasonI don't anymore is that I soldthat rifle and haven't bought another to replace it. Like the guy said when I asked if I could shoot a magnum on his range "I don't mind, if you don't mind".

It's almost like everyone is too PC to admit that they like things that make a lot of racket and destroy whatever is in their path. I don't.In the words of a guy I hunted with one time, when I asked why he was hunting mule deer with a 30/378 WbY; his reply was " because I can". ;)

Same here!:D:D:D Now, all of a sudden, I feel hungry. I think I'll throw a couple burgers and some beef sausages on the grill. Hope nobody shows up, not sure if there will be enough for anybody else.

BTW, Texas beef is superior to Texas venison. The beef I raise is not exposed to steroids, and usually doesn't eat those nasty acorns.

Imo the finest meats in the world (not that I've tried them all) is:
1. Walleye cheeks
2. Fresh Lobster
3. Venison loins fresh wrapped in bacon and grilled
4. Eland steaks fresh grilled
5. Beef steaks

I love a good Porterhouse but it's a ways down the line when it comes to superb delacacies.

That is when I saw my trusted 30-06 fail,oh it killed the elk,but it took 4 shots(3 in the heart-lungs and 1 in the neck to finish it),all of them were well placed shots, when gutting the cow she had 3 sluggs up against the ribbs on the far side, yes the 30-06 worked but the shot was only 40 yds.Now if a 30-06 can't punch trough at 40 yds what would it do at 200 or 300.
I didn't read every answer, but i sure got a kick out of this quote!! hahahaa

Another classic case of NOT useing a "bullet" to do the job that YOU wanted done, then blameing the cartridge!!!

Happens all the time,

Drilling Man

PS, the "exact" same bullet at an even HIGHER velocity (read magnum) = an even "bigger" falure to penentrate deep!!! (assumeing a std. expanding bullet was used)

Where I hunt the deer are raised on 100 percent grain and there is no Gamey taste whatsoever. I am having chicken fried deer steak in about 30 minutes. :). I took eight Muley does last season and its all great. I like it at least as well as beef although I enjoy a change. Moose and Elkk are good too it they have a good food source. Old moose is about the worst I have eaten. Old 62 inch bull. Most of it was not fit to eat. Got a young cow last year. GREAT!!!!

I've heard that Cape Buffalo is actually quite tasty. I have never had the pleasure...and probably never will...(and I'm probably not brave enough to hunt them anyway).

Vapodog,
Really....I didn't know that Walleye HAD cheeks. Do they have lips, too ?

(Sorry...I couldn't resist !)
