My first rfle I ever bought was .3006 Finnbear. Excellent rifle, much higher workmanship than most you will see on the market today. A little heavy for my tastes today but I would be surprised if this thing wasn't a shooter unless its in bad shape.

Hello...I own 11 of them last count. You have selected a wise investment, caliber and rifle. If you post the SN, I can tell you more.....Garcia, Stoeger or pre 71??
The older 25'06 are also fairly rare. Regards, Rick.

I have an L-61 Finnbear from about 1967 in .270. It's an EXCELLENT rifle. Very accurate with factory ammo and a super-slick action. Mine is topped with a Leupold M-8 in 6X. I agree with the comment about the weight. It is a heavy rifle but that certainly dappens the recoil. You will like your Finnbear.

Maybe you could e-mail or call Beretta and ask them on when the rifle was made. They should be able to help. www.berettausa.com I guess you could check with Sako www.sako.fi but I think Beretta would be the better choice.

Look under the forend of the stock (underneath)... The barrel should be laser engraved imported by Garcia washington DC or Stoeger.......regards, Rick

My Sako Finnbear L-61 in .270 is #30XXX and the vintage is about 1967. Hope that helps. I think if you will do a search on the Sako Collectors Forum you will find the information you need. Those guys are very knowledgable about Sako firearms. http://groups.msn.com/SakoCollectorsClub/messageboardseetopics.msnw You can download a manual for your rifle on the Swedish Sako website. http://www.sako.fi/ Look under Manuals For Discontinued Models.
