Synthethic stock for Enfield P-17 in 30-06
#1
Grandad gave my his rifle. It is a Enfield Pattern 17 in 30-06 Springfield. It has the BSA factory markings where it was ultimately assembled, but the individual components bear the Winchester "W" .
Anywho.....
..anybody know where I could get a synthetic stock for this. It's a shooter, but it has that horrific enfield stock. It has already been sporterized so authenticity is not a concern.
Ramline doesn't list any, but Bell and Carlson does (but you pay big $$ for one of them!!).
Thanx gents

Bell and Carlson stocks are crap IMHO. I have given up on them We always have customers that want them cause they are cheaper than a HS or McMillan but they very rarely fit. Holes are drilled off center, barrel channels are not straight with the receiver, and just a general lack of quality control concerning proper fitting. By the time they pay for the stock and then pay the labor for us to fit and bed it they would have been better off with an HS stock.
Richards Micro Fit can do a Walnut, Maple, or laminated stock if you can't find a synthetic. It takes about 8 weeks to get it.

Wow, awesome site. I have definitley re-evaluated the synthetic idea, and am pursuing a laminate from these folks! Thanks for showing me the error of my ways. The even include my rifle as a standard inletting configuration.
Now, if only these forums could be as helpful with the current monetaryexchange rate (wretch, chock, cough)![:'(]

Try core-lite stocks, they might make them. they were designed by the then fajen gunstock company and there are made and sold by Midway now days. There not as much a B&C,and they have a better product. vangunsmith

I put a Fajen walnut stock on mine. I was semi finished and inletted but was a factory second. I believe it was about 70 bucks. I spent about 6 hours on it with sanding and oiling. l IMHO it looks correct with a wood stock. But also check Midway, Gunparts corp (out of new york) Natchez supply, Springfiled Sporters and The Sportman's Guide.
