Default Any 10mm fans?

My search for the perfect pistol continues (soooooo many choices). I think I have narrowed the selection down to one gun, a Kimber in 10mm. I would like to use the gun for plinking, varminting, and hopefully not self defense (but it will be kepthandy just in case). Any input on this particulargun, Kimber in general, or the 10mm would be helpful. From reading other posts, it appears Kimber gets a big thumbs up from most. Any other 1911's that shoot 10mm?

10mm= 40cal? i have never seen a box of 10mm ammo at any gun shop locally. I would go with something more common.

a friend of mine really likes his. i don't know from first hand experience but he says it has about the same amount of recoil as a 9 mm but alot more power. he told me it's accurate and extremely controlable. the only problem that i can see is the availablity of the ammo and price. but there has to be something good about it though ... if i'm not mistakened doesn't the secret service of some organization use it as it's standard pistol? anyhow. it seems like a pretty good cartridge but i don't know much about it first hand.

Pass on the 10MM. It it not a coincidence that ammo is getting hard to find and the major manufacturers are dropping out of this caliber. The .40 S&W has essentially replaced it. It isn't a good big game caliber, and it isn't any better of a self defense caliber than the .40 S&W.

I think the old 45 still trumps the 40 S&W. However I also love the 45-70. I had a 10 MM Glock and I loved that gun. It was the most accurate of all my Glocks and I had all of them. The Kimber should be fine but I think they are overpriced. JMO.

Most factory 10mm loads are loaded down to 40 S&W levels. You can buy the hotter rounds, but they are expensive. Personally, I would recommend a good ole 45ACP. I prefer Springfield's, but I work for them. Kimber makes a fine pistol if that is what you like. I have nothing bad to say about them. Good luck

Springfields 1911's are second only to Kimber, and not but much at that. If you want something to plink, get something in .45,.40 or 9mm. Anything else and it will get pricey.

If you're looking for big power, go .45. I myself am a 9mm advocate.

The 10mm is a great round. It is not going anywhere. Granted it's not the most popular round out there but it has a big enough cult following that it is here to stay.

http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/index.phpmakes excellent 10mm ammo going from mild to wild. Of course if you reload there is tons of brass and bullets to choose from and loading data.

I have never shot a Kimber 10mm but have always liked the Colt Delta Elite and Glock 20. I'm sure the Kimber would be nice gun.

I too like the 10 MM. I have shot the GLock 20 which is 10mm. I personally think it's a great round and would definately choose it over a 9mm. And i think the FBI uses it or did.
