RE: Any 10mm fans?

I think when the FBI tried to go to the 10mm (many moons ago), they had alot of problems with the power of the round and the guns they were using not being up to the task. They had several issues with slide separations and deceided to not go with the 10. I know since then, the guns have been beefed up to handle the 10 and there are alot of shooters out there that love them. And I don't think you can go wrong with the Kimber if you're going for a quality handgun.

if it were me, i would go with something more common. 9mm, 40s&w, or the 45 acp. I haven't seen any 10mm rounds in quite a while where i buy my ammo. And when i did, it was quite expensive. If you are looking for power the 40 or 45 IMO would suit you and for plinking you could go with the 9mm. 9mm ammo is very reasonable and the .40 isn't far behind it.

That's weird because most of the gun shops i've been to carry it, as well as all of the indoor ranges i visit.

RE: Any 10mm fans?

Oneissue with the 10MM is way the caliber's pressure curve develops. For 1911 design guns, the ideal pressure curve is one that builds fairly steep on the onset and then falls away fairly quickly. The 9MM, 40 S&W, and .45 ACP have this type of pressure curve. The 10MM has a flatter curve - causing the pistol to rise more in its recoil cycle between shots -and in the case ofhigher pressure loads, creatinga possibility of the gun trying to unlock mechanically before the presuure has dropped to the point where the lugs can freely let go of each other. IPSC competitive shooters noted pretty early in the 10MM's development that it is one of the slowest calibers, in terms of shot-to-shot recovery, that are chambered for the 1911 platform.

you can look at it like this if you wanna =)

if something ever "WENT DOWN" and you ran outta 10mm in you pistol and need more, do you think the bad guy will have some for you? haha thats why i stick with normal rounds, nvr know what might happen and where. 9mm is the most common round by far, followed by 40cal.

just a little thought after a walk threw the slums of the town next to myne. "gangstaz" ran a cop out of the "hood". then ran when another counties PD showed up. hah
