In a lot of posts asking questions about big bore pistols I hear from the S&W's and the Ruger's and the TC's but never from Colt. I shoot an Anaconda with an 8 1/2" barrel and I couldn't imagine wanting anything else for a deer size sidearm. Just wondering if any of you guys have any experience with colt revolvers and why you don't like them.

I have had many Colt revolvers. I like them ok but they are grossly over priced compared to other handguns of equal quality. Thats what has hurt them IMO. You can't price a product out of range of the average hunter and expect acceptance.

So what about taurus, or rossi? I have a rossi 38 special and it seems ok to me. I wish I had something else bigger to bring as a bear treat when dragging an elk out. Any afordable suggestions? EJ

I also agree with John. Certainly nothing wrong with the Colt, but when I can pick up a Smith or Ruger with a high-quality scope for the same money, the name "Colt" stamped on the side isn't worth it.

I found the reciept for my Colt ... $458.60 (Sept. 1992) including 2 boxes of shells, a cheap shoulder rig and tax. I know the price went up when Colt discontinued revolvers for a while, but I haven't checked price in a while. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything. Great balance, great trigger. Got a real nice shoulder rig now from Pistol Packaging. Since I live south of the rifle line in Michigan, It's my go to gun for whitetails.
