The old solid base should work pretty well. However it won't work quite as well as the Nosler Partition. The last deer I shot with the Partition went down almost where it stood. That amazed me. Give the solid base a try though. If I were limited to the 243, I would buy a bunch of Nosler Partitions and wouldn't consider anything else. So far anyway. Oh and keep that 270 handy.

I don't know what to say. The 270's that I have had shot very well and I have really never heard about the caliber itself being anything but accurate. I had a 270 Rem Pump that would shoot 3/4 inch groups at 200 yards. Three shot groups. 130 grain Nosler Ballistic tips. There is no reason that I know of that it would not be accurate as an overall rule. However there are guns of every caliber that just won't shoot. Usually because of improper cleaning. IMO.

James I will always have ol faithful handy...lol. I am hoping however that the 7-08 will be sharing some time with it though. I got a box of solid bases for both of those calibers as well as some speer hornady and sierras...lol. Plenty to do this summer....
Z my .270 is the best grouper I have and it seems to like factory as well as handloads so far.
