Ok now for my back up gun i will be using my 30-30 just in case my 7mag is non shootable and i was thinking of using my Winchester SuperX 170 gr silver tip or trying the 170 federal powershok, they both group about the same but wich would do a better job on elk(shots would be between 25--50 yrds) or would they do the same, if i was unabloe to shoot it with my 7 mag?( i know this sounds crazy to shoot an elk with a 30-30 and i really don't wanna hear taht i need a different back up gun becasue the 30-
30 in my familey has killed more elk then our 300's,338's,30-6's and 270's! but i want more of an opionion on what kinda ammo more than nethang) Thanks ahead for the response

By far the best Elk load "on paper" I have seen is the Federal 165 Sierra grain GameKing. This bullet has a BC .613 and has excellent downrange energy vs other loads. I cannot speak for the bullets toughness, penetrationetc but if it is constructed properlyit is worth a look.
