Some synthetic stocked guns can look cool, but i have yet to find one that i would call beautiful as i would some wooden stocked guns. The only kind of synthetic guns i do not like are ones with black stock and stainless barrel. I wonder why they dont just blue the stainless guns like all the others? Just my oppinion.

they don't blue them because stainless is resistant to rust. that's why they put it on the synthetic stock; to make a weather resistant gun

I have and use both! I agree a wood stock is nicer looking however, durability has to go to synthetic. Another note synthtic is lighter as well. You need to look at both and weigh your options, find what is more conducive to your specific application. Do not buy a gun you are unhappy with just because others like one style or the other. Both are good and have their purposes. I use both!

I buy my guns to hunt with not to look at so stability and strength are the most important factors.As such my rifles have mcmillan stocks.

Accurate Innovations and Serengeti make some of the most beautiful dropin stocks I have seen yet. I don't see why either shouldn't be used on a serious hunting rifle.

If you like wood look into a Laminated stock,then you have a stable weather resistant stock that looks great.Stay safe and thanks for your service!

I'm in the laminated stock group. Just do not like the cheep looks of synthetic stocks and although I really like the looks of a good piece of walnut, I found myself babying it when in the field. With laminated stocks you get the look of wood and the durability of synthetic. They are also quite stout due to the laminating process.
Here's a pic of my Rem 700 Mountian LSS which has a laminated stock.  I know some folks don't like the looks of laminated stocks, but personally I think they look great. firstshot ---------------------------------------- Make your first shot count! |

i like the laminate stocks because i have read they are very tough and strong. most of the laminated stocks are also weather resistant. they also feel great, just like wood.the synthetic stocks are good too, i just don't like the feel of them. they are very durable and weather resistant, not to mention lighter than most stocks. any good stock should last a lifetime.
