the biggest reason that i have found that the mini's have a bad rep is that everyone wants to shoot tons of cheap shells threw them. i do the same when i want to make some noise or watch the dirt fly. with cheap ammo or shooting fast do not expect much.
Well when i shot cheap 7.62.39 i expect to hit something & my sks fires everytime& does. And cost me 100 bucks per rifles(some a lill more some even less)
Otherwise why not thow firecrackers for noise& flying dirt?

It was about the diameter of the barrels- sks etc being made to shoot that cheap ammo.Being the same ppl who do make the ammo

knightia, the new mini-30's are .310 dia. barrels, the reason for the early .308 barrels was because Ruger tooled up to build the XGI and then scrapped it for various reasons so the .308 barrels had to be used.
Thanks Ridge i didnt relize they had changed there barrels . I remember reading about those xgi,s- now i wouldnt mind one of those- to bad they never made them- i would have liked to have one of those for sure.
But i cant complain for what i spent on my sks,s in how they shoot, with no work done on them.

Many many rounds threw im& abused& still kicking- for the price of a cheap 22. rifle.

I might even spring for one of those ar,s or a M 1 in the future got a few more dollars now

minis can be made to shoot well but ruger chooses not to make them this way. That is why I would never choose a ruger over a sks.

boy Knightia i don't know what to think about the sks. i was never to impressed with them. the few that i have seen were not up to the task. but the price was right. it's a differant story with those ar's or ak's. from what i have heard and read is that the ak is the most dependable auto-loader ever made. if i talk myself into one of these i think i would try an ak. it's all just a way to turn money into noise. but fun.
