Default Going Barbless.

On every hook I have and I have a lot I always take at
Least 50% of the barb off.

I don't take all of it off but I do take at least 50% off maybe a little more.

So who else gos barbless ?

Depends if I plan on keeping fish but I'll cast and crank for Northerns just for fun and I usually use a Rapala that I pinched the barbs on to make it easier to release them.

I fish for trout in waters that are barbless only ,even if you plan on keeping them.
For all my bass and pan fish fishing I go barbless , I have found that I rarely lose a fish that I think that I would have landed with a barb.

We have been barbless for about 10 years now. It's the law. I find it doesn't make any difference in the catching but sure is a lot easier to remove from the fish. Makes a big difference in fish mortality if releasing the fish to grow + fight another day.

THis was the first year for barbless here in alberta. its the law now. it makes it diffucult to keep the big trout on when there jumping but other then that there isnt much difference. just keep good tension on your line and they wont get off.
