My wife caught a 5 pound smallmouth below pickwick dam this last weekend. We were fishing riprap with large minnows when this critter bit and she had quite a fight on her hand. She was using a light to med. spinning rod and reel with 8 pound test stren line. It was beautifully colored fish and we released it. She wanted to mount it but I insisted we let it go. I didn't tell her but I'm going to get one of the re-creations and hang it on the wall. However, I forgot to measure the length of the fish. Do any of you guys know about how long a 5 pound smallie would be? Also, does anyone know of a good place to get the re-creation? I know wildlife creations from bass pro shop does them but I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere else that might do them.
I tried to post a picture but couldn't get it to work. System said there was communication error.

I am not sure about the length, but i think you also need the girth measurements. As far as the mount, you might want to contact some reputable taxidermists in your area. Sounds like a lot of fun, smallies are a blast. Good for your wife.

The gerth measurement is just as important. Some of those replica guys are really talented. Ask around locally and try to find one of the best it will be worth it. I had one done by using 4 photos and came out great!!
