Sturgeon
 

Anyone ever caught a Sturgeon? I caught one this year totally by accident when I was jigging for walleyes on the Mississippi. I thought it was a big catfish, a nice surprise!
I have a picture if anyone wants to see it let me know because the file is too large to put on here.

my dad caught one in the nottawasaga river (ontario) and it weighed either 120 or 125 pounds. caught it on a spinner tipped with a worm while steelheading. he was usin 17lb test and it took 30 mins to land.

just thought id share it.

I caught 2 small (24-27" )Shortnose Sturgeon last year in the Connecticut River in MA. They are federally protected species. I caught them while walleye fishing.

wow.Nice job. I' d hate too try and land one of the big ones I' ve heard about, that can get over 8 feet long. Yah, they' re protected, some states have stricter laws than others, and I guess that in Nevada, your not even allowed to take them out of the water, which is crazy.

Have caught a few while walleye fishing. We have a winter spearing season for Sturgeon here on Lake Winebago here in Wisconsin. I will attempt to add a pic of the one i speared last winter
