Went out and caught a bunch of these a few days ago. Red Breasted Sunfish. They came out of a local lake in Eustace, TX.



I'd like to say I was a "sportsman" and turned them loose but to be honest they had a date with the cornmeal and bacon grease that night. They were downright tasty!

Yes they are and you were doing the population a favor by thinning the herd. Pan fish need to be thinned or they will be stunted in size.
