Illegal Fish stocking...
#1
Well folks I was talking with a former school teacher who is a Maine Guide and he told me about an article he had read in the local paper. When I got home I looked it up.. It was about an illegal fish stalking in the St. Croix River watershead.. Now this watershead is a prime smallmouth bass fishing water shead as well as white perch, atlantic salmon, some brook trout and numerous other spieces of fish. So why would someone stock largemouth bass into it? The guess is that the basstourney people did this.. That is what the word on the street is anyways. I would not call it all of them that is for sure. I would say that it was one of them most likely though. No one really knows who it was though. One thing is for sure they are not wanted there and orders have been given to cull everyone you catch.. Here is the article that was in our local news paper..

Now I will most likely start posti a pic or 2 in the smallmouth catorgory shortly while I try my luck down there for thos largemouths.. So I will most likely move into second place rather quickly..
This a real problem up here with muskies illegal introduced into a lake that had conected to the Penobscot River around 10 years ago. Now they have gotten into the river which is known for it's Atlantic Salmon fishing. The introduction of these non native fish raises heck with the native fish and puts more pressure to restrict our fishing of our targeted fish.

Moving live fish from one body of water to another has been done in the past here in Vt but is now illegal. All our regs are pretty strict in order to limit the chance of invasive fish or disease. Even without man's intervention nature often finds a way to spread the species out.
