When my son was in the MP,s in germany& we visted him- we went to there walmart - they had large tanks of fish to eat- like trout etc. I (saw) that sams clubs in china sells pretty good size live turtle to eat.

Knightia 03-25-2012 08:25 AM

Plecostomus- close?

Chuck7 03-25-2012 10:15 AM

No sir...that's not it..the fish will only be in Walmart"s that sell fish tanks and fish..this fish will cost about 3.99 each and will ne about 2 inches long..when they are bigger they put them in lakes..and that is the problem..

Sorry..you are correct on the scientific name....I checked it out (-;

The Walmart name would be Algae Eatter....the common name is Sucker mouthed catfish

Knightia 03-25-2012 10:25 AM

There non native to the area? evasive speices?I have heard/seen etc about quite a few things down in fla- snakes lizards, plants fish etc getting to be a problem or out of control in the wild etc. Not just there of course but elsewhere to.

That fish i posted is native to wy- but on the east side of the contintanal divide only- but some claim its bad for waters here on the west side of the divide -that hold lake trout, smallmouth bass, rainbows etc& bad for those fish- that are also non native to those waters also or here at all maybe even.

Go figure- maybe based on what one makes the most moneys & is the most popular etc hmmm...... I think they like to eat them popular fishs s yep.

Knightia 03-25-2012 04:42 PM

Thanks Chuck-i seem to me missing links & ppls post today till i goback& reread things again( sometimes more then once even)

I was thinking along the same line as that.. In fact I used to have a large one that killed an Oscar on me.. It was a loarge Oscar and it kept sucking on the side of it. More so after I cleaned the tank as we have soft water here with very little Algae in it..

I actually have one of only a handfull of wells in the state here that has soft water..

Chuck7 03-26-2012 02:35 AM

I need to for sure. I have tried lake conroe for 4 trips now and have struck out on every trip. Getting awful tired of it. Im about to give up on conroe for the rest of the spawn and go back to the honey hole to see what I can do there.

Chuck7 03-26-2012 02:47 PM

You mean you totally struck out? Not even a dink?

Phil from Maine 03-26-2012 05:34 PM

Yes, I do realize this.. They have asked me if I would be interested in hooking up to a town waterline if they were to put one in going by me.. You can pretty much guess my answer to that one.. A BIG NO WAY!

Gangly 03-26-2012 08:10 PM

Not even a dink....very disappointed in my results. I'll have to figure out where they are at because I honestly don't have a clue at this point.

Chuck7 03-27-2012 10:27 AM

I Googled Lake Conroe and watched alot of videos..I wasn't thrilled with the fish sizes and the pressure that lake gets..It looks like the successful fishermen fish the creek tributaries that have the stumps ,pads etc..and even then..the size I saw wasn't huge..You may want to find another lake..or get on some Lake Conroe forums and get alot of information.

Gangly 03-27-2012 11:12 AM

The lake is good, multiple share lunkers came out of it last season. Mike Iaconelli pulled in stringers averaging over three lbs per fish in the Texas BASS classic that is held there. The fish in that lake are big. The only problem is that the lake conroe HOA decided to throw in butt loads of grass carp and they ate all the vegetation in the lake. The lake is BARE other than stumps, so the fish are spread out and can be hard to locate. Once you locate them though, you can usually catch fish on those spots darn near year round, its just hard to find those spots and fisherman on this lake are tight lipped. Also add in the fact that the lake has gone up 6 feet in almost 2 months has made it that much harder to locate them.

I'll figure it out eventually, I just havent had any luck with it yet. It doesnt halp that the fish finder on the front of my boat went kaput which means I have no clue what depth Im fishing or where the structure is while Im fishing. I basically drive around in water depth that I think they will be in, go in circles until I find structure in the area, then fish that area pretty good. It hasnt worked out yet, but I'm confident that once i get on them I will be able to pattern them pretty quickly.

Chuck7 03-27-2012 12:29 PM

I would think Tezas would have stringers of 5-7 pound bass ..for pros that is...Texas is right up there with hFL and Cal. ....I believe Lake Fork produces monsters.

Dirtroadproductions2011 03-27-2012 12:35 PM

We have always called it a picasimus, ive fished central FL my whole life

Chuck7 03-27-2012 02:59 PM

Which Lake's do you fish?

Gangly 03-28-2012 05:42 AM

I typed that wrong chuck, his stringer average was 5-6 lbs, my fault. The lake is solid, its just hard to pattern because of the lack of strucutre/cover.
