Nothing special...just thought I'd writer a short fishing update,
Work was a royal pain so I thought I'd get a quick bite and fish a couple of hours. I grabbed my two braid rods and headed out to my Honey Hole...a 500 acre maze of phosphate pits.
I aimed for mt 6 1/4 bass spot first...this is my 3rd day in a row so I didn't realize it but I couldn't"t stand and flip..I was exhausted,,so I sat and pitched in my jig...tap ..set the hook and I had a nice 5 plus on there for 3 seconds,,dang..lost a real nice one..
I flipped 2 more sets of cat tails to no avail..I then started to flip around an island of cat tails,,tap tap fling went my reflexes and a bass just under 3 pounds got boated.
I moved to a string of cat tails along a wood line..tap ..fling..a 2 pounder bounced off the side of the boat..la male,,huh..getting ready for the full moon spawn in 2weeks I thinks,,
15 minutes later...tap..pull set..nice r2 pounder in the boat..another male..15 minutes later another tap tap..fling..reflex set..another male boated...
Gettin dusky...I spotted an empty bed..I pitch a jig on it..out of no where a sleek long male attacks the jig and then quickly expels the lure...
Summary..IMHO the males are getting the beds ready for a serious full moon spawn.

Well..I recant on saying "Nothing Special"
For everyday is special..Actually I did pretty good using a jig because I still tend to use rubber worm over a jig..BUT this year I'm learning to appreciate both..
For Florida..our weather is 2nd to none this time of the year..mostly in the 60s. I'm thankful for my job which allows me alot of hunting and fishing time and time to spend with my family. I've got a great principal to work for and 2 ladies who help in the classroom everyday. They are both hard workers and give me lots of support.
Each day is very special.

Glad to see you atleast got out on the water. I went yesterday and only caught one fish, 3.04lbs on a zell-pop. I missed one which might have been him, and then the next cast to the same spot resulted in the 3 lb'r. So maybe it was the same fish twice, not sure.

Question for you ..
how far is lake Conley.{ The lake you fish at } from you?
My computer at school is running super slow..took 15 minutes to pull up this thread to read it.
Later I plan to type up a questionaire regarding everyones body of water that they mostly fish at..this way we can get an idea of what the other guy is doing..and his disadvantages and advantages..

Lake Conroe isnt but 20 minutes from me. I can leave the house and have the boat in the water within 30 minutes.
However, the body of water that my big fish have come from is not Lake Conroe. There are some really big fish there, but I havent had any luck catching anything bigger than 2.5 lbs out of it yet, still learning it.

I have a great lake 50 miles away..If I was to fish it..which I plan to..this is what I do..maybe some of these may be a help to you..
A. find the lake on Google Earth..look for little islands..tributaries etc..structure.
B. While at the lake..find the cat tails..Bass love cat tails because they pretty much grow in sand that bass love for easy crayfish and tio build beds..
C. Some big lakes have reviews and their own forums...read these and you may find some good ideas or secrets..I've found out quite a bit of info..just by doing these things.
D.Use the wind to your advantage..drift a couple of rods over watrer 4-10 foot deep..until you find fish..This and using your depth finder should help you. Most bass live in the 8 foot range..they love 72 degrees..There was once an experiment..the Bass Professor had a long tank..One side was 100 degrees and the other 40..they continuously prefered the 72 mark...
E.Talk to local tackle shop people..They know what's happening.

I have quite a few places to fish that I have been told produce bass, but I havent had a chance to fish them yet. My fish finder went out this past weekend while I was on the boat so I have no clue of the depths I'm fishing which makes it hard to find the drop offs. I have multiple maps of the lake, along with USGS surveys of the area before it was flooded showing roadbeds, rr tracks, underwater bridges, etc. Surprisingly, I have multiple sources of information that I feel are good, I just haven't had a chance to check their validity yet. One of the other web boards I visit has a section specific to Lake Conroe which has helped a lot. People on there are pretty tight lipped, but researching my maps thoroughly and spending time driving around on the lake has allowed me to isolate areas that look good on paper and resemble areas that resemble some of the comments that members have let slip through the lines.

Yes sir....I really shouldn't" of even gone..mentally I was there but physically I was worn out..I didn't set the hook good enough..the fish felt strong so I pulled back..her entire body was only about 3 inches below the surface,,fat girth..and one big swirl and it was heart break city..oh well..can"t get em all(-;
