Some of the best bass fishing of the year is directly after ice out. Fish have been "semi-dorminant" for a long period and after ice out/thaw, water warms quickly and metabolism speeds up. More food is available for predator fish and they want to eat.

Can't wait!

If your fishing in I'll. You may use live bait for the bass...if ya get blessed and catch one through the ice..it counts....if you beat Buckhunter this year..i'll send you a complimentary bag of worms..your choice.( -:

If you read all the threads..you can see one rule was altered...northern guys may use live bait..and if any northern guy can beat Buckhunter,,,they get a bonus..

Why? Because he is good.lol he needs his butt kicked lol

On the tournament rules..read rule number 9 please.

Your question about a good time to go....
I haven't lived up north since 1980
But down here ...and I have kept data,,the best fishing is ,,,,,,
The 4 days prior of the new and full moon
Right before a low pressure
And the entire two months during the spawn...
surprisingly most huge bass are caught in the afternoon

Females stay on the beds from 1 to 2 days
Male build the nest and will hang out nearly 4 to 6 weeks.
Our fish are already starting to spawn..so I will fish as much as possible.

The best wind is the west wind...I've got a few presentation tips but plan to keep them to myself. I fished with a man last Sat. We did everything the same but one small detail..I boated 5 ..and the other man struck out. I read about this tip about 15 years ago..and it works,

God bless,
C7

Sure that will be nice..it will be hard to beat Buckhunter...he's from the north and beat me by an ounce or 2 last year..he' got some hot spots himself and is very competitive..

I will be shocked if anyone beats him..Gangly may get me this year but he will need to beat 15 pounds..I'm feeling it.(-;
