Default I got 2 today..

I boated a 3 1/2 and a 4 pounder

I hooked a 10 plus today..it was weird..I was pitching long distance..when I got a tap..I set the hook and pulled up what appeared to be a mud filled 5 gallon bucket..It was a huge bass about 27 inches long.I got her lethargic self to the top THEN she tore out like a bat out of hades...and shook loose.

She was hooked on the extreme cat tails to the right..ALL the fish though were caught here. They are beginning to spawn.

NICE Chuck, glad to see the big girls are starting to bite. Sure sorry to hear about the 10+, that would have been an awesome fish! I am definitely envious of all the many places you can fish with such big bass, but those gators ruin it for me haha. Sorry to hear big bertha got away, but congrats on the two great fish you got in the boat!

Thanks Gangly...I had 2 more threes that got off as well..I think I baby them to much with mono..I will be going braid and mono the next time..That bass was huge.I was sight fishing for a while..found some beds...it was like I lifted it her right up...then when she realized it was me.she began literally towing my boat..I had my rod bent and kthumb acting as the drag..she gavel one big shake like. A brahma bull and that was it..After that she gave one huge boil as to say..get real dude..I had no intentions on getting in that boat.

When I am going big fish hunting, I have 30 lb braid with 20 lb flouro leader. Haven't lost one yet, and I HORSE them out haha.

After discussing the 10 pounder with Matt..we are pretty sure it was a Grass Carp..MAtt had caught a 15 pounder before snagged on a Rooster tail...mine fought like his did..

a. Instead of jumping or going deep this fish staed about 2foot under the water and heading for deep I water,,whereas a bass heads for structure,

B. grass carp have a long Dorset fin..that was the first thing I noticed on the fish.its unique dorcel fin

C. On the hook set I was able to lift the fish nearly out of the water without an incident,,,,and then when it fought..there was no fight ..simply a free boat towing toward uthe middle as she stayed about 2 foot beneath the surface of the water..

Summary..we are pretty sure it was a grass carp.im using my wife's I Pad..or I would post a pic of a grass carp

Actually it shook off..but i have no doubt once it turned on the heat it would have broke off..Here's a pic of a grass carp..they live in FL
You can see..that looking down on top of this fish in murky water it may be easily mistaken for a bass..
