We were starting up the power plant over in Lincoln.
I know the Walleyes are supposed to be better eating - but in my opinion - that is all they have going for them. They fight like an old wet sock compared to Smallmouth Bass.
I'm having fun now - learning to fish these lakes in Northern Vermont - especially Lake Champlain. What a wonderful fishery.
Tight lines and bouncing bobbers.

We hooked one thru the ice a few yrs back walleye fishing, had him on for what seemed like 10 min thru a 6 inch hole. He was as wide as the hole across the back and when we finally get him turned upright only a couple inches of his nose fit up into the hole and that was as far as he would go!!

Lake Champlain must be an awsome place to fish! That one makes Hubbard look like a pond i bet!

That is Hubbard Lake, unbelievable fishery.

That was my biggest of the trip, weighing a tad over 7 pounds.

j76 - Champlain is a whole different ball of wax. A big lake, 100 miles long and full of islands it is very fertile and has just about every fresh water fish I grew up catching. I love that place - even though it is quite dangerous - as the winds come up very suddenly and you need to be alert every minute if you are in a small boat like mine- and fish near sheltered waters.

BH14 - I've only caught 2 Smallies in that class in my whole life. One was out of Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, and the other was in the North Channel of Lake Huron in Ontario, Canada. Those are fish you never forget. The one on Lake Huron - I was fishing alone out of a canoe and that big Smallie towed me around a bit before I could get her in - it sure was memorable.
