Default Hooking minnow front/middl/back

When ice fishing, targeting Walleye or Perch, do you prefer to hook your minnows in the mouth, center top fin, or tail?

I run the hook through both lips..carefully..making sure the hook doesn't go through the brain for instant death..

If minnows are weak and die soon..I hook carefully behind the dorsel fin .they live forever like this.

You ice fish for walleye Chuck?

We usually hook in the mouth other times we pinch the minnows in half. Usually with a jigging rapala.

Ever use belly meat Big Tuna?

I've noticed better action from them when i hook them through the lips as opposed to the tail. Ive never hooked them behind the dorsal, I will have to try that. You do have to be careful though, if you hook them to far back in the lips, you get a dead minnow really fast.

Don't do any ice fishing except when we have to do the coast guard cutter routine in the river with the jon boats this time of year......LOL. But I always hook the minnow just under the dorsal fin.BTW not trying to steal your thread but the crappies are biting like something wild here in the river now.We caught over 100 yesterday and did not keep anything under 10 1/2".

I hook them just before the tail, they keep swimming for hours. Seems to bring good luck but I will try out all the other ways suggested here and see how it works. I'm always into trying new things.
