Default Skunked on Kennebec but had fun

I fished part of the Kennebec R, (ME) two days ago. We put in just a little down river from the Bath Iron Works. The weather was foggy and the water was very high. We had some action right away, around Fipsburg (sp?). I lost two striper flies to some very strong pulling fish.

The rest of the day was slow, but we marked fish for most of the afternoon. High water, tides, too much rain? The scenery was pretty. That was my first trip to Maine, and not my last.

You call that Maine? LOL That is what some of us refer to the other state of Maine.. Long story to that one.. Maine will change a lot the farther north you go. Whether along the coast or into the deep woods Maine will change alot. It is nice down that way though. Up here by the bay we have some of the highest tides in the world here. Along with a giant whirlpool called the " Old Sow " .. You will see more deer in the southern part of the state..
I am glad you enjoyed your visit up here in the state.. Yes! we have been getting alot of rain! It is stated to be the wettest summer that has ever been recorded.. Stripers can be alot of fun to catch and can provide some great action.. Did you have any blues hitting? They normally get quite a few down that way..

Hi Phil,
No blues were hitting where we were. I told one guy that on my next visit to Maine, I wanted to go check out Aroostook Co, and he looked at me like I was crazy. He spends most of his time on is lobster boat, or in the bottle.
I might try to slip over in the spring to bust a turkey, but I kinda got this sea duck bug in my brain from a while ago. Shooting at them looks challenging and a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info. Good luck this season whatever you're after.

I blame some of that on the moon phase..last week was the worse week of the lunar table..I didn't fare so well either..Tomorrow they should be doing a little better in the morning.I'll be out there..I'm a firm beleiver in the lunar tables..

ALONG with other factors such as fronts and rain...overcast

NOW night fishing is a different ball of wax...I beleive the fish are more active then
