I have an old Mitchell 300 spinning reel, about 35 years old that I just took all apart, cleaned, and relubed and put back together...this thing is like brand new ! they don' t make them like this anymore ! There are no plastic parts, all metal !
Anyways, I was wondering if I could use this as a reel on a heavy action rod for muskies instead of a baitcaster ? It has a spool that would very easily accomodate at least 150 yards or more of 20# test mono. Have any of you people fished for muskies with a spinning rig ?

I' ve never seen it done but who knows. I think it would work heavy action, strong line, good rod, no plasctic in the reel heck yeah give it a shot. If it doesn' t work you can always go back to your baitcaster or if you don' t have you can pick one up pretty reasonably priced.
