Default Anyone Have Ice?

Northern states starting to freeze up. Generally, We are able to get onto the ice the day after Christmas (like a Christmas present pretty much ).

This year, we already have ice and the next few days have temperatures in the teens.

I am thinking I will be out fishing by Friday.

Anyone else have or getting ice?

Lets remember the number one goal should be saftey. I have made the mistake in the past and some fish are not worth you life. Be safe this year fellas!

Same here Phil, a few cold nights but the highs are killing the ice. When do you guys usually begin having stable enough ice to fish on?

Right about Christmas or the day after is our general time.

Normally it used to be about 2 weeks before Christmas, but that has changed alot up here. We could get a year that it's safe by then or it may not be safe enough until the 2nd week of Janurary. The ice has been strange the last few years. Last year though was a decent year for ice but we had way to much snow as well..

Just checked one ofmy favorite spots, 2 and 1/4 inches of ice. That will be a no go for a while, supposed to get very warm this weekend.

Checking another spot tomorrow that froze about a week before the other spot. Should be able to fish this spot Friday and possibly Saturday.
