Those are some big ones that is for sure Chuck! My brother once caught one monster bluegill and put it in a bucket of water to show my mom. It layed flat across the whole bucket and couldn't turn upside right if it had to. After showing my mom we went down and put it back into the water again to set it free. Today we both wonder if it would of been a state record or not..[:@]

The world record is 4 pounds .12 ounces

The Florida state record is 2 pounds 15 ounces,

Iwonder what yours was too Phil.
I could not find the Maine bluegill record on the net..There are a few different species of sunfish...though..The largest specieswhich is my favorite to eat and catch is the red earred sunfish..FLoridians call them Shell crackers..They are some powerful fighters and sweet to eat. That world record is over 5 pounds and our state record is closeto 5 pounds.

Here's a nice skin mount I found on th enet of a red earred / Shell Cracker
