Default First cast fish question..

Ok why after you catch one fish no other fish bites??

Here is what happened to me this morning..
6:30 first cast white Rooster..ZING goes the drag..a nearly 3 pounder is boated..30 minutes of casting ..with Roooster , jigs and worm..NOTHING..

7:00 Next spot..a point off an island 200 yds away..FIRST cast...rubber worm ..wham..nice 2 1/2 pounder...next 30 minutes..NOTHING

7:30..new spot..bumping a green jig with crawdad legs..jingle jingle POP set the hook..boat another 2 pounder..next 30 minutes nothing.

8:00 move to another rock bar..folks on the shoreline are staring at me..FIRST cast..my red shad worm is moving..moving moving WHAM!! Fish boated.Chunky 2 1/2 pounder..
no more hits there either..

Last stop..FIRST cast Shad Rap..tiny bass...no more hits this morning..Gets too hot..10:00 I leave.

OK..This place gets nearly zero pressure..My boat is carpeted and I make long cast..notto spook fish..Each place I mentioned should be holding lots of fish..perfect habitat .Plenty of cover, baitfish , and water goes from 1 to 30 feet..so fish can easily find a comfortable depth. When you reel them in do they communicate with the other fish that there is danger around?

PS Lures tried,
Expensive Rattle trap.."Ireland"
Bass n Shad deep diver
Zara Puppy
Red Shad Gambler { - : worked
1/4 ounce green jig {-: worked
3/8 ounce Rooster Tail..{-: worked
Shad Rap Pearl {-: worked
Rapala diving jointed minnow..
BEST LURE TODAY Red Shad Gambler..BB split shot..Texas rig

its a fact every fishermen needs to know. when you catch a fish on your first catch its bad luck. everytime i catch a fish on the first cast i know the fishing wont be very good no matter how hard i try. ill be lucky to catch another one.

Chuck its just like catching spawning fish when you pull one out
all the others see that there buddy just got yanked out as I know
as that happened to me last week fishing and it would take about
25 minutes before the other fish would even look at it again! Mike

I think you got a good point there..Last month in a crystal clear lake I hooked a bass...as I was bringing it in a 2nd bass was swimming right beside the bass,,It was bigger,,As I pulled the bass out of the water the 2nd bass fled into deeper water..

Though most of us believe childers is on to something there is a simple truth behind why we tend to catch a fish on the first cast and then nothing else. Remember that the first fish you catch out of an area is usually the most aggressive. This means it will most likely hit about any lure you put in front of it. If the area looks like it should hold multiple fish then the most likely explanation is you aren't using the right lure. I find that when I get in a situation like that a change in lures can be the ticket to more and bigger fish since the big boys are very seldom the most aggressive.

Very good hypothesis Indy...makes sense to me..I do generally anchor and try other lures..and sometimes that does work..
