Default vanish??

anyone use the Berkly Vanish line??

i just spooled up with the 4lb line...been using stren magna flex..always been a stren guy personally...

used vanish before...had twisting issues and it being real weak and breaking easily...

they were out of dang near everything in 4lb test because i was silly enough to buy it the night before trout season opened...had 4lb vanish saying "new and improved" blah blah etc....great! it will be invisible but strong!! going to be perfect trout line!!

WRONG!! STILL twists!(yes its on right!!!...even tied on a big heavy wooden bobber and sailed it out across a lake to make sure it would be good) and it still has....weak spots? real weird. i know you have to wet the knots...i do that anyways...but when im tightening down on knots, im breaking line!! 4lb test should not snap like nothing...and its snapping really easy in the middle of the line...not at my knots...i trim a foot or 2 or 3 every 15 minutes or so while fishing..(i run lures and spinners in a stream...good habit to get into after you learn that lesson!)

i know the line isnt frayed or nicked...its just breaking...

anyone?? ideas? thoughts? comments? similar stories?? cant wait to get magnaflex back on!!

Well, this was one line I was thinking about trying out - but I'm glad I read this!

I've never personally used Stren Magna flex either - How well does it cast? Twisting a problem? etc.

IMO magnaflex is a great line...i havent found better for my trout fishing...and it was recommended by a trout fishermen that logs more hours fishing a year with spinners for trout than alot of people WORK! lol..thats not much of a joke really...were talking 10,000 trout years for him...

spinners are known for twists as is moving water...the magnaflex was the best ive found yet....and i never had breakage problems....

Awesome, I may have to give that a try on one of my ultralights. Have you ever used Black Widow? I've used it for a few years on a couple different rods and have had very good luck with it. Super strong yet very thin, a bit expensive and hard to find though.

i am a big fan of berkley line, Big game mainly, itis one of the toughest lines i have ever used, but sadly[&o]i tried vanish in 12-14 pound test, i was sorely disapointed. i wouldn't use it on a weed-eater[:@]

another factor to consider on line is how its stored, very brittle line useally indicates poor storage practices Ie; heat/light[:@][&o]

I tried it and didn't like it. Too stiff and it didn't hold up IMO. The Berkely Transition is a FC type line that has a red color in sunlight so you can see it but disappears under water. I liked it better than the vanish but it still is stiffer than regular Trilene.
